I’m Keith: husband, dad of four, and a 30-year veteran of the corporate rat race.
Long days, thin margins
For years my day has started at 4:30 a.m. and often run until 6:30 p.m., with Saturdays thrown in. With my wife and me putting four kids through college, money was always thin. At the end of most years we broke even, and we’d flip a coin on whether this was a vacation year or another “maybe next year.”
Then there’s retirement. Every time I ran the numbers, the finish line moved: five more years, then ten, then fifteen.
Getting creative
When the paycheck doesn’t stretch, you find a way. For us that meant extreme couponing, joining group-buying co-ops for fresh vegetables, and always looking for a little extra income on the side. In 2026 the tools are different, but the need is the same.
Why I started InsightHive
That’s why a side hustle means so much to me. It’s not about getting rich quick. It’s about options: a bit more breathing room each month, less dependence on one employer, and someday stepping away from the daily grind on my own terms.
I started exploring what everyone talks about: side hustles, affiliate marketing, blogging, freelancing and AI tools. I found a lot of noise, and too many people selling a “system” with income screenshots they never explain. InsightHive is my notebook along the way: what things really cost, what’s realistic for someone with a full-time job and a family, and what’s just hype. If you’re in the same boat, it could be you.
What you can expect from me
- No income promises. I’ll never tell you you’ll make a certain amount. Results depend on your time, your skills and some luck.
- Real steps and real costs. Guides show the actual work involved, not just the highlight reel.
- Honesty about experience. When I’ve personally done something, I’ll say so. When a guide is based on research, I’ll say that too.
- Written for busy people. Ideas that fit around a full-time job and a family.
- Transparency about money. Some links earn us a commission, and that never decides a recommendation. See our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy.
What I’m not
I’m not a financial, tax or legal advisor. For decisions about taxes, investments, retirement accounts or leaving your job, talk to a qualified professional. See our disclaimer.
